Sheep identification quiz (learning sheep ID)
In order to interpret the videos of the second task you will need to be confident in identifying sheep of different ages and sexes. Here are the key distinguishing features: Males (rams) have distinctive spiral horns and the scrotum may be visible between the hind legs whereas females (ewes) have smaller curved horns. Young rams resemble ewes until about 3 years old so are tricky to distinguish. We therefore group these simply all as juveniles without trying to determine sexes.
